A Walk in the Woods

trillium

It was quite a May Day today. It reached the lower 80's. By 7:00 PM we relented and turned on the air for the first time. Earlier in the day I enjoyed a walk in the park.

All the trees and  buds and flowers are popping. The forsythia seemed to explode in just one day.

The garden club had scheduled a walk in the woods to see the trillium and other wild flowers, which were not really open last week when the event had been originally scheduled. I am still learning about wild flowers but came to recognize a few more. I saw ramps, which I had enjoyed as a soup garnish of ramp pistou earlier in the week. I took many photos and will share just a few. The untended wild flowers are a testament to their creator, faithfully and gloriously sprouting up each spring, pushing through the layers of messy leaves and fallen logs that are strewn about the forest understory.
